After finishing grad school, I realized ... it's been four years since I had a writing group! Anyone need an extra hand on deck?
I'm currently working on (a) a high fantasy satire and (b) a novel that is definitely fantasy, though I'm not entirely sure about subgenre (safe to say, it hedges in the direction of YA). Favorite genres include fantasy (favoring high fantasy and new twists on the genre; really not favoring "grimdark"), 19th century Russian literature, and crotchety British ministers writing reactionary Industrial Revolution poetry (that's a genre, right?).
I recognize it's a year later, but in case any of y'all are still following this conversation, I'm trying to start a writing group. I write YA urban fantasy that's in the vein of Dresden Files meets Diana Wynn Jones. I'm in Brandon Sanderson's class this year and am trying to put together a writing group to work for at least this semester, hopefully longer. Anyone still looking for a group?
Hi John and Nicole,
My current work in progress is contemporary YA, but my next is YA fantasy.
I'm also looking for a writing group, and would be interested in exchanging first chapters to see if we're a good fit.
Lindsay
Hi John,
I’m also (a) working on a fantasy novel (mine is a YA historical fantasy) and (b) looking for a writing group!
Let me know if you want to exchange first chapters!
Nicole
